Hi,

We were facing problems with 2 tablespaces in Oracle 10.2.0.1.0. They were increasing rapidly. The only solution that we had at that time is to add more data file into those tablespaces. The application support team discovered a bug and that made those tablespaces to shrink to a smaller size.
Now as we have 9 huge different data files that only holds small data.
My question is: is there a way to move the data into only 5 data files and then delete the other 4??
I hope I am explaining this the right way…

Thank you
Mohammed

You have to move all the objects out of the 2 tablespaces,
drop those 2 tablespace & create the tablespaces with appropriately sized files.

Hope This Helps!

Thank you for the kind reply.

However, this is the production server. Would it be possible to do that without any downtime?
