2 Node RAC 10.2.0.3 on Redhat EL4 32 bit.

The LBA is not activated. The clb_goal for the service is set to long.

Problem: Randomly one of the nodes will stop taking connections. Restarting the instance on that node "clears" the problem up and connections will start going to both nodes. The "Goodness" from GV_$SERVICEMETRIC is 65,000 for the node that will not take connections and 70 for the node that is taking connections.

How can I tell what is making the "goodness" on the node so high? The node is pretty much just sitting there idle with no connections and low CPU. The memory is somewhat high, being used by the ora_lms0 and ora_lms1 processes.

I thought the same thing when I seen that bug...however there doesn't seem to be any real resolution. What does stick out to me is bug 5156744.

They had a 5 node RAC and one of the nodes would have a goodness of 65529. Which is the same exact goodness that my node was showing. They later state they think the cause of their problem is because the goodness value for the node was set to MAXVALUE.

Bug 5755010
-Connection Load Balancing is not directing new connection to other nodes. Listener registration does not complete with some listeners even though there is no indication of registration failure.

But of course non of the Bugs published.....

Guess upgrading to 10.2.0.4 might be my only fix.

Anyways, thanks for the quick reply.
