In a a TAF connection with
FAILOVER_MODE = (TYPE=SELECT,METHOD=PRECONNECT)

would the result be that if a instance 1 were to go down the 'selects' run would continue to execute on 2nd instance.

While the sessions established on instance 1 would have same number of sessions established on instance 2.

Yes... theorically

I meant to say :
eg.

Instance 1 has : 10 sessions
Instance 2 would have same 10 sessions established cause this is preconnect.


I believe if this is the case then the time would be saved if instance 1 were to fail, because already same number of sessions are established to the 2nd instance.

Yes there will be the same sessions on other node.
