Hi All,

Hi Bala,

Thanks for your quick reply. Where should I issue this command? I don't have access to the server yet.

Thanks in advance.

ifconfig and /etc/hosts should display all your IP. But you need to
be logged in for that.

Not sure what kind of access you are looking into.
To gain generic access (ssh), you need the public IP/hostname.
Virtual IP is for applications to access Oracle with RAC features (RAC loadbalancing and failover). If a RAC node goes down, the virtual IP will failover to an existing node.
Private IP is used by RAC via interconnect to talk between the nodes.

nslookup

You need to know atleast the servername.
Just place a request to access the server_name.

Hi Mahesh,

Thanks for your time. The data dictionary view gv$instance
shows the following details

instance name hostname
icd1 testlinux1
icd2 testlinux1

Here the hostname refers to the physical server host or virtual host?

Thanks for sharing your knowlegde.

Regards,
Richard
