Hi all,

could you please tell me about data guard accommodate with 11g database standard additions or not if no,is there any way to make it working under this edition?one more thing may i have the steps of configuration data guard in real time for anew server.

Hi,Michel

thanks for you,but for standby database can i create standby database in same oracle home directory and also in same oracle Sid or i should use dbca tool to create another database in different directory with own sid

You cannot create the standby with the same sid, same home, same server; how Oracle could make the difference between the two?

No, you can't use Data Guard with SE licences. Data Guard is part of EE, and relies on using the log_archive_dest_n parameters. You aren't allowed to use them on SE.
You will have to set up a manually managed standby database. Google around, and you'll find examples of shell scripts to automate the process.

Hi All

Thanks for take care of my question, now i have to configure data guard for tow servers on LINUX RHEL V5.4 with database 11g r2 x86-32bit, so could some one tell me what the network requirements , configuration and the best configuration for this and all rpms should i install.also i got some kernel parameter, but i have miss understand on(processes)how can i check this parameter?

fs.file-max = 512 * PROCESSES
kernel.shmmax = 2147483648
kernel.shmmni = 4096
net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000
net.core.wmem_max = 262144
