listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files are missing , only sqlnet.ora file is present at the location
oraclehome\network\admin .
database is causing no problem . i am able to start the listener service , open em , even tnsping is giving right output .
but i cant understand how can the service work without these files . i searched full computer for "tnsnames.ora" and "listener.ora" but no reslts except the sample files.

tnsnames.ora file is only required on a client & is not needed on DB Server.
Since V10 Oracle no listener.ora file is required to start the listener.
All is as it should be.

It would be helpful if you followed Posting Guidelines - http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/88153/0/
