Sirs,

Seeking advise from you because we're not that experienced in Oracle Support licensing terms.

For example, we had a good SPARC database server (14 staging databases installed/running on it)
which can accommodate 32 processor licenses and we're utilizing 10 licenses only (as per our
contract with Oracle), how do we know if we're over or under utilizing our support licenses?

Do the ratio of processor license against database is 1:1?

Thank you in advance.

So you have 64 cores, and the core factor for a T5 is 0.5. Therefore if you are using Enterprise Edition you must buy 32 licences which is $1520000. As you have only 10 licences you are operating illegally.

Thanks for this.

How about the named user licenses? Does it counted as part of the 32 licenses for the said T5-2 server?
We also had a 25 named user licenses and 1 internet application server license for this server.

Also, the said server had dB versions of 7, 9i, 10g & 11g installed, as we knew that versions below 10g
were already desupported and we've been paying for support for these products long ago.

What would be our good approach to Oracle if we want discontinue payment of support for those older (desupported) versions?

Again, thank you very much.

You need to talk to an Oracle partner (I work for a good one Smile )and get some advice on this, from someone who is paid to help you and give answers that the Oracle Licence Compliance group will accept.

Note that Oracle's interest is on maximizing licence requirements, rather than minimizing.
