Dear all,

I've installed and configured successfully 32 bit 12.1.0.2 instant client on windows server 2008, but I was not able to configure 32 bit 12.1.0.2 client on windows 10,

I did the following:

cd c:\windows\systemwow64

odbcad32

next I did the following:

choose System DSN tab
Click Add
choose Oracle in instantclient_12_1
on the Oracle ODBC Driver Configuration screen,
the combo TNS Server Name is not populated.

when I check https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/NTCQI/toc.htm#NTCQI108

windows 10 is not supported for both 32 bit and 64 bit 12.1.0.2 instant client, so is there a way to run odbcad32 in windows 8.1 compatible mode?

thanks a lot in advance!

Why instant client? I am using the 12c client on both Windows 10 64 & 2008 R2 without any issues. Just download the 12c Client and go for a full installation (Including the admin). I am using such a setup to read data from 64Bit 10g 10.2.0.3 database

Hope it helps

There is no "c:\windows\systemwow64" directory on Windows 10. (And neither on Server 2008)

If you did what you said you did, you launched the 64 bit odbcad32 instead of the 32 bit one.

Try "\Windows\SysWOW64" instead.

(And I use the 32bit and 64 bit instant clients without problem on Server 2008 and Win10, the installation is completely identical for me)

sorry I made a mistake it should be C:\windows\syswow64

but as what I said previously, service name is not populated at at all.

C:\Windows\SysWOW64>echo %PATH%
C:\app\oracle\product\12.1.0.2\instantclient_12_1;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0.4\dbhome_1\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WINDOWS\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\7-Zip;C:\Program Files (x86)\PuTTY;C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\;C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox

sqlplus
SET local=orcl
c:\Windows\SysWOW64>sqlplus sys/****** as sysdba

so obviously that's nothing wrong with the path and environment variable.
any other variable that I need to set

thanks

The fact that 64-bit client works, says absolutely nothing about 32-bit client.

BTW - why do you require 32-bit client anyways?

>but I was not able to configure 32 bit 12.1.0.2 client on windows 10,
above is 100% devoid of any actionable detail
