Gurus,

Good day!

I just want to validate with your expertise if
I can execute the relink of ORACLE_HOME while I had on-going export dump.
This server have 2 instances/dBs sharing the same ORACLE_HOME.
DB1 had export on-going, while DB2 had problem connecting to RMAN
using "rman target /". Is it fine to do this, I'm not sure if it
would affect data in my EXPORT process.

Thank you for your time.
Best regards,

You shouldn't relink the Oracle home while there are processes running. Did the export of DB1 terminate successfully? What was the "problem" connecting to DB2 with RMAN that made you think you should do this?

@gazzag

Sir,

Thank you very much for your confirmation.
The said dB server crashed due to disk failure.
The 1st dB (which had EXPORT on-going) had been FORCE OPEN after recovery
while the 2nd dB had problem of ORA-01096 - program compatibility
(also after recovery).

Regards,

Error Message
ORA-01096: program version (string) incompatible with instance (string)

Cause
A program is trying to connect to an instance using a different version of code than the database was started with. This is not allowed.

Action
Either relink the program with the same version as the database or restart the database using the old version of code.
How many Oracle homes are on that server?

Is everything OK now? (apart from your Oracle version)

What do you mean by "force open"?
