I have a large Oracle 8i (ISO1) Database with multiple DBCS (Japanes, Korean etc) character data inserted by different code paged clients.

I need to convert this to Oracle 9i-Unicode. What is the best way to convert the data without loosing the original DBCS data.

I'm told that the data needs to be exported using a binary format and imported using SQLLOADER specifying the target(source?) code page.

I don't know if oracle's export utility has an option to export in a binary format.

Is this possible and how is this to be accpomplished? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ravi
