Allocation of SGA depends on the componet sizing you have done in the initialization parameter file.

hi,

Girish i know the size of SGA is based on the parameter in init.ora.... but when i install oracle 9i database software then i m not specifying any parameter value for SGA but default some SGA size is taken into consideration i think it is nearly 50% of RAM of the server ....

Please check out this issue with few more Oracle DBA Expert.. i am not telling that your answer is wrong but i have doubt...b'coz when we do coustom installation at that time it ask probably for size ...but when we are not doing custom installion of Oracle Database software do we specify the size of SGA?

Thanks For your help

In case of typical installations oracle calculates the size as approx 70% of physical ram size for the system on which database is getting installed.

No we do not specify SGA size while doing typical installation for Oracle.
