We would like to access our UNIX based Oracle databases from our CICS COBOL programs. We have the Oracle client only installed (10g)on z/OS and use it to access Oracle databases with batch COBOL already successfully.
The question: Is it required to own/use CICS ACCESS MANAGER to access these UNIX based Oracle databases from CICS COBOL programs, or can we use the standard Oracle precompiler with CICS Cobol programs without the need for CICS Access manager?
Is there a cookbook whitepaper around that would describe this (non CICS ACCESS MANAGER) approach ? We would prefer not to have to code Oracle OCI calls (instead of using the pre-compiler) from CICS/COBOL since we don't have the expertise in-house for OCI coding.
