Hi,

I am running a standard edition Oracle 9i 2 on Windows 2000 server.
I am trying to partition my table but it is not enabled in this edition.

I want to convert standard edition to personal (or enterprise) so that I can partition tables. How to do that?

Would that have any impact on the current objects in the database?

Thanks in advance

You have to reinstall Oracle (and laybe rerun catalog) but it does not impact your objects in the database.

Don't forget to check the partition option during install.

Thanks for the reply

I did reinstall Oracle. Chose the Enterprise Edition. Ran the catproc.sql and catalog.sql file in SYS login but still I am getting the same error

Why do you think this might be happening? How to check which edition I am running currently

Thanks for the reply

I remember that you had mentioned about checking the partition option but while running the Universal installer I did not come across any screen where I could select this option. Have I erred somewhere?

The edition is not written in the 9i I am using (9.2.0.1.0). I downloaded it from the Oracle website. It just shows production

Then you have installed standard edition.
You also have to check Entreprise Edition box at install time (I didn't mention it, I thought it was obvious).
If you don't have these options then you don't have the correct CD or zip file.
