Hi friends,

I happened to read about checkpoint queue and RBA from oracle manual. I am really confused with the concept explained. Sad

Can anyone explain it in simple words? Embarassed

First for OP question.
Then, "Consistent RBA" is B.'s specific metric (which as nothing to do with OP's RBA and checkpoint) and his queries have very few interest.

The manual i read is oracle9i database administration fundamentals II.

I am little confused that all the while i thought that when a checkpoint happens all information in Databuffer cache are written to datafiles.

Now the new concept called RBA and checkpoint Queue comes to picture. I did not understand the whole process of implementing commits using RBA and checkpoint queues. Mad

I am now reading through the link

But,its not helping. Sad

Can the seniors help me out with some simple example. Embarassed

I think Steve Adams page (first link) is very clear and I don't how we can explain in more simpler way.
You are refering complete checkpoint, RBA is related to incremental checkpoint the one that is used, for instance, to guarantee (or target to) fast_start_mttr_target value.
