Well, that's something strange.

Let's suppose you use a PC with one of the MS Windows operating systems installed. Also, you have installed MS Office. Now, you have opened MS Word and wanted to write an essay about use of barcodes in Reports Builder. Also, you'd want to write it using the "CRO Dutch Normal" font.

How would you do that? Easily! You'd choose the "Font" dropdown list in the Formatting toolbar and choose the desired font. But guess what! There's no "CRO Dutch Normal" font in there!

In order to use it, you'd have to install it first. Right?

The same goes for barcode font - you can NOT use it if it isn't installed. Quite simple.

However, it may be that I didn't understand the problem. Could you, please, write a few more sentences about it? Did you store barcodes into an Oracle table as images and are trying to display those images in the report?

Yes, you need to install the barcode font.

Go here to get an explaination of how to do it. It may not be the font you're using, but it will show you how.

BARCODE FONT

These installables put the font on the machine for you automatically. If you already have the font, just note where it its. Then click on "Start", "Control Panel", "Fonts" and the font window will appear. On the menu bar select "File", "Install" and navigate to where you saved the file.

All I can tell is to quote myself: there's something strange here.

How is your computer supposed to display barcode if there's no barcode font installed? If it is possible (and none of previously mentioned options is true), I must admit that I don't know what power made it possible.

As of "barcode128" you're talking about: fonts are just another merchandise and should be bought (unless they are free, of course). I've seen some "3-of-9" free fonts, but I'm not sure that advanced barcode fonts are free. In other words: you might need to buy this font.

then i run barcode report on report builder

Do we have your tables? Which user should we connect to?

I believe you'd better attach the RDF file instead. I'd like to review it once you do that.

no table needed
the only query i have is :
"select sysdate from dual"
so not important which user is connect
barcode string is build from a fix string like '00123654798754475'

Wow!

That's something I didn't expect. You are, actually, drawing the barcode yourself!

I'm sorry, it is far too complicated for me. I thought that you were using a simple "point and click" solution with a barcode font. I'll try to take a closer look at it, but can't promise anything.

I must admit that I don't understand what you are saying.

Quote:

There are rectangles in your report and you chose "no line" for them. When you do that, you can NOT print "it". What is "it", exactly? The whole report? Or are these rectangles invisible?

If the latter, no wonder - how can you expect to "print" something that you can't "see"?

Quote:
on repexpert
What is "repexpert"?

Could you create a sample report (for example, based on Scott's schema) or attach a screenshot (make it JPG or PNG) so that we could see what you are doing?

I can see rectangles on monitor but they are not in print

I create a sample report
the only query is:
select sysdate from dual

and there is 1 big recangle
i can see rectangle but cant print it!!

What is the output file type?

I tested it on our application server:
- if your 'rectangle' report creates a HTML page as an output, there's no rectangle
- if 'rectangle' report creates a PDF page, it is visible

So: could you check and, possibly, change output file type?

Oh! So this is the old, unsolved problem? Sorry, but I wouldn't know what to do.

P.S. Did you consider installing a true barcode font instead of "making" your own one?

P.P.S. As this question is closely related to the previous one, I'll merge these threads.
