Can anyone tell me how I can capture a count on the number of lines I have in report for instance if a report for one particular month runs 50 lines, for each line I would like to display which line it is
1
2
3
...
50
I tried using count but it gives me a total, it displays 50 on each line... any suggestions.

I figured it out. Ofcourse after I submit a request. All you need to do is add rownum to your query.

True, that's one way to do that.

Did you consider creating a Summary column (and applying the COUNT function to the source column), just for an exercise?

Or, you could have even tried with the ROW_NUMBER analytic function.

yes actually I ended up using the summary column instead because the rownum was messing up my alphabetical order... hint to everyone make sure the 'reset at' button is set to report not page .... that gave me totally different numbers.

Thanks!
